Bada Mangal Bhandara & Sundarkand in Lucknow
Bada Mangal is Lucknow's own festival of Hanuman ji. On the Tuesdays of the Hindu month of Jyeshtha, the city sets up bhandaras on roadsides, outside shops, in office compounds and at temples, and serves anyone who passes — puri-sabzi, chana, boondi, and sharbat and water in the heat. Many families and businesses also hold a Sundarkand Path or a Hanuman Chalisa path that morning or evening, and some keep a bhandara as a yearly vow.

This page brings together what a Bada Mangal arrangement needs: a mandali for Sundarkand with music or the Hanuman Chalisa sung one hundred and eight times, a Sunderkand Havan if you want ahutis as well, and Path Seating & Bhog with its bhandara option. Because every Tuesday of Jyeshtha is wanted by a great many hosts, mandalis and cooks book early. The exact Tuesdays come from the panchang each year, and the pandit or mandali will confirm them.

Before you bookWhat to know
A Bada Mangal bhandara feeds whoever comes, sometimes for hours. Estimate generously, settle the menu early, and plan serving counters, plates, dustbins and someone to manage the queue. In Jyeshtha heat, water and sharbat matter as much as the food does.
A roadside bhandara outside a shop or home is an old Lucknow tradition, but it takes space on a public road. Check with neighbours, the market association and the local police about the spot and the traffic — that is the host's responsibility. A compound, gate or terrace avoids most issues.
Most hosts begin with Sundarkand or the Hanuman Chalisa in the morning, offer bhog to Hanuman ji, and then open the bhandara. Planning that sequence keeps the path unhurried, the food fresh, and gives the mandali time to eat before the crowd arrives.
A bhandara leaves plates, cups and food waste across the road if nobody plans for it. Keep large bins, people assigned to clearing, and a plan for leftover food so that it reaches people rather than the drain.

FAQQuestions people ask
When is Bada Mangal?
Bada Mangal falls on the Tuesdays of the Hindu month of Jyeshtha, which usually comes around May and June. The exact dates change every year with the panchang; your pandit or mandali will confirm them.
Can Hari Event arrange the bhandara food?
Yes, through the Path Seating & Bhog listing, which has a bhandara option. Tell us the expected numbers and the menu; the written quote will show it separately from the path.
Sundarkand or Hanuman Chalisa on Bada Mangal?
Either is traditional. Sundarkand takes around three hours with music; the 108 Hanuman Chalisa is a long, continuous chant. Choose by the time you have and your family's practice.
