How to Book a Banquet Hall in Lucknow: Step by Step
A banquet hall is often the first big booking of a wedding, and the hardest one to change later. Lucknow gives you plenty of choice — large halls in Gomti Nagar, mid-size halls in residential areas such as Aliganj and Indira Nagar, older halls in the city centre, and halls attached to lawns along the highways. In photographs they all look similar. In person they are not. This guide walks you through booking one properly: what to decide before you call, what to look at during the visit, which questions to ask, and what the quote and the advance should say.

Fix three things before you call any hall
Halls answer the same three questions every time, so have your answers ready. First, the date — with a backup date from the pandit if you can. Second, the guest count. Third, the type of function: wedding with pheras, reception only, engagement, or a smaller family function.
Be clear about seated versus floating guests. A hall that seats a certain number for a sit-down dinner can comfortably hold more people for a buffet where guests move around. Many families book on the floating figure and then find there aren't enough chairs for the elders. Ask for both numbers and plan for the one that matches your function.
Choose the area for your guests, not just for yourself
Think about where most of your guests live and where the out-of-town ones will stay. A hall close to Charbagh station or with easy access from the airport at Amausi saves elderly relatives a long evening drive. A hall in the same part of the city as the janwasa keeps the baraat short.
Lucknow traffic also matters. Evenings around Hazratganj and Charbagh can be slow, and narrow approach roads in older areas can turn a fifty-car arrival into a jam. Parking is the one thing guests complain about most — ask how many cars the hall can take and whether valet or a parking attendant is provided.
What to check on the site visit
Visit in the evening, ideally when another function is running. You will see the lighting, the noise, the parking and the staff at work — things a daytime walkthrough hides.
- Real capacity, seated and floating, and where the buffet will actually go.
- Air-conditioning, and a generator that can run the whole hall, not just the lights.
- Separate rooms for the bride and the groom's side to change and rest.
- Clean washrooms, enough of them, and a lift or ramp for elderly guests.
- The kitchen or catering area, if outside food is allowed.
- Ceiling height and stage size — they decide what décor is possible.
- The approach: can the ghodi, band and baraat reach the gate without blocking a main road?
- Whether another function will run in a second hall at the same time.
Questions to ask before you pay anything
Write the answers down on the spot. Halls are friendly at the enquiry stage; what was said in conversation is easy to forget by the wedding week.
- Is catering in-house only, or can we bring our own caterer?
- Can we bring our own decorator, and are there restrictions on nails, open flames, cold pyro or confetti?
- How many hours are included, and how is overtime charged?
- What is included — chairs, covers, stage, basic lighting, generator, cleaning?
- Are taxes included in the quote or added on top?
- Until what time can the DJ play?
- Can the havan and pheras be done indoors? (Smoke detectors sometimes force them outside.)
- How early can our décor team start setting up?
- What are the terms if we change the date or cancel?
Reading the quote and paying the advance
Insist on a written quote. It should state the date, the hours, the guest count it is based on, everything included, what is extra, and the payment and cancellation terms. Compare halls like for like — the same guest count, the same hours and the same inclusions — or you will end up comparing a full package with a bare room.
When you book a hall through Hari Event, you send a request by Book Now, WhatsApp or a call, and we call you back to understand the function. You then get a written quote listing exactly what is included. The date is confirmed when the advance on that quote is paid; nothing is charged online. The balance is settled on or before the event day. If you cancel, the advance is adjusted against costs already incurred and the rest is refunded, and if we cannot deliver a confirmed event, everything you paid is refunded in full.
Mistakes we see every season
Each of these is easy to avoid at the booking stage and very hard to fix on the night.
- Booking on photographs alone, without visiting in the evening.
- Planning on the floating capacity for a sit-down dinner.
- Ignoring parking until the first guests start circling the block.
- Forgetting about havan smoke in a closed, air-conditioned hall.
- Not asking whether another wedding shares the building that night.
- Paying an advance on a verbal promise with nothing in writing.
When a lawn, hotel or party hall suits you better
A banquet hall is ideal for winter evenings, unpredictable weather and guest lists that fit comfortably indoors. If your list is very large, a lawn along Sultanpur Road, Faizabad Road or Kanpur Road gives more space for counters, the baraat and the mandap under open sky. If many guests need rooms, a hotel keeps everyone under one roof. And for an engagement, birthday or small family function, a party hall is usually the more sensible size and budget.

FloralFAQQuestions people ask
How far in advance should we book a banquet hall in Lucknow?
For a wedding in the winter season, as soon as the muhurat is fixed — popular dates go first. For smaller functions or off-season dates, a few weeks to a couple of months is usually enough, but earlier always gives you more choice.
Can we bring our own caterer and decorator?
It depends on the hall. Some allow outside caterers and decorators, some only allow their own, and some allow outsiders with conditions. Ask this before anything else, because it changes the whole budget.
What is the difference between seated and floating capacity?
Seated capacity is how many people can sit at once, usually for dinner. Floating capacity is how many can be in the hall moving around, as at a buffet. Plan around the one that matches how your guests will actually eat.
Does Hari Event charge anything online to book a hall?
No. Your request leads to a call back and a written quote. The date is confirmed when the advance on that quote is paid, and the balance is settled on or before the event day.
